Spring is the perfect time to refresh and renew, not just in your home but in your wellness routine too! As the weather warms up and the days get longer, it's the ideal opportunity to take stock of your habits and make some positive changes. This spring 'cleaning' guide is all about revamping your wellness, from decluttering your mind to rejuvenating your body, so you can feel your best and embrace the new season with open arms.

Are you ready to refresh your routine?  Here are a three tips to get you started:

Clean up your diet

A great start to cleaning up your diet is simply by incorporating more whole foods such as fruits, veggies, whole grains, and grass-fed proteins.  Spring brings an abundance of fresh options. Take advantage of the growing season by visiting your local farmers market and incorporating more produce into your diet. 

If you don't have a local farmers market, no worries! Most 'big box' stores have tons of fresh options to choose from.  The key is to shop from the perimeter of the store.  The inner aisles are a mine field of processed and packaged foods, sugary drinks, and inflammatory fats.

A common objection I hear when people start to make a shift in their diet is "it's too expensive to eat healthy".  I totally get it, especially in this economy we all have to stretch our pennies a bit more and organic produce definitely comes with a steeper price tag.  If you only have a small budget to spend at the grocery store, the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 can steer you toward the organic and conventional produce you can prioritize. 

Get moving

Spring is a great time to get moving and enjoy the outdoors.  As the weather starts to warm up, we tend to naturally become more active and spend more time outdoors, which can have a positive impact on our mental and physical health.

One way to start refresh your fitness routine is by setting achievable goals and creating a schedule that works for you. Consider activities like walking, biking, or hiking to get your body moving and enjoy the fresh air. Even 15 minutes each day after lunch or dinner adds up over time!

Getting moving can have several health benefits, including improving cardiovascular health, lowering blood pressure, strengthening muscles and bones, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and cancer. Additionally, physical activity can improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and boosting cognitive function. 

It's important to find a form of physical activity that you enjoy and that fits into your schedule, whether it's walking, running, cycling, swimming, yoga or any other type of exercise. Remember to start slow and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts to avoid injury.

With a little motivation and a positive attitude, you can start your spring off on the right foot and make the most of the beautiful weather.


declutter your mind

Spring is a time of renewal and growth, making it the perfect season to declutter your mind. Over time, our minds can become cluttered with negative thoughts, to-do lists, and worries that weigh us down. 

To declutter your mind, you can start by identifying the sources of mental clutter, such as negative thoughts, worries, or distractions (like social media perhaps?). Once you've identified the sources, you can take steps to address them, such as practicing mindfulness, setting priorities, or taking regular breaks. Additionally, you can incorporate habits into your daily routine that promote mental clarity, such as exercise, meditation, and journaling. 

By taking the time to declutter our minds, we can free up mental space and allow ourselves to focus on the things that truly matter. This can lead to increased creativity, productivity, and overall well-being. So, this spring, take some time to clear out the mental clutter and make room for new growth and positivity.
